About Small Business Tools

Small Business Tools is a site that offers low cost, and often free, tools for people who are starting and running their own small businesses. The main area of the site is the Community Wiki. This area of the site owes its inspiration to Jeff Atwood and Joel Spolzsky’s StackOverflow.com.

The Community Wiki is a place where small business owners and employees can ask questions and get authoritative, community reviewed responses. Questions and answers are voted on by other users. As more people vote, the best answers rise to the top. This model has been described like the best parts of Wikipedia combined with the best parts of sites like Digg and Reddit.

Like a good wiki, the content is owned by the community. This site is completely free. There aren’t annoying, in your face, advertisements popping up all over the place. It is just a no-nonsense place to get your questions answered and your ideas heard. If you want to contribute, you can register (which is also completely free!) an d start letting the site get to know you.

As the site gets to know you it begins to trust you more and more. The more you are trusted, the more things you can do on the site. Up to and including editing and deleting posts from other people. The idea behind this is that the site is completely run by the community, not by Small Business Tools.

No matter what sort of business you are starting or running, we can come up with the best answer here. Whether you are starting a franchise, a service business, selling a brand new product, or hanging out your shingle as an independent consultant, this is where you can get your questions answered.

Enjoy the site. It was built for you. If there is anything you'd like to see there is a feed back link at the top of every page.
